server310 Down
Posted by Salman on 25 December 2010 03:01 AM

At Approx 8 PM US EST (GMT -5) we were alerted to a possible failed drive in the RAID 10 Array. The NOC techs powered down the server to replace the drive. However during the drive replacement, the RAID Array was lost and no data was recoverable. All drives were immediately replaced and an OS reload was performed.

Once the OS reload was completed, we initiated a restore process from the offsite CDP DataVault. The CDP restore process can take 16 - 24 hours depending on the amount of data to restore. The CDP restore is being done from the last backup taken an hour before the crash.

UPDATE 05:15 US EST: The CDP Restore process is 17% complete.

UPDATE 07:45 US EST: The CDP Restore process is 25% complete.

UPDATE 09:00 US EST: The CDP Restore process is 43% complete.

UPDATE 09:45 US EST: The CDP Restore process is 55% complete.

UPDATE 10:30 US EST: The CDP Restore process is 75% complete.

UPDATE 11:30 US EST: The CDP Restore process is 84% complete.

UPDATE 12:45 US EST: The CDP Restore process is 100% complete and the server is now back online.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
